While hiking on the Mink River Nature Conservancy land located in beautiful Door County, WI, I noticed this Syrphid fly dancing among and feeding on the Chicory (Cichorium intybus for you science buffs) flowers scattered along the trail. I happened to have my macro lens on my Nikon D700, so I thought I would try capture this scene that caught my eye. It was a rather difficult shot to get as I did not have my tripod with me, and there was a breeze blowing the Chicory around. I cranked up the ISO to enable quicker shutter speeds to freeze the action and allow me to use a smaller aperture to give me a little more clarity on the subject. I ended up capturing this delightful photo.
